Tennis court specialists Plexipave (UK) have recently installed their Plexicushion Prestige surface in the new six-court indoor facility at Edgbaston Priory Club, Birmingham. The High Performance Centre now has the same surface as the Australian Open tournament.
As part of major redevelopment plans for the club, the L.T.A. has invested up to £5m to support and develop the club's performance programme.
The development will also include a permanent grass show court used for the pre-Wimbledon international AEGON classic women's event.
The cushioned base is a special blend of latex, rubber and plastic particles, forming resilient layers that absorb body shock and reduces muscle fatigue.
The finished Plexipave surface is said to provide a consistent and uniform bounce, long lasting colour, outstanding durability and allows the speed of play to be specified.
Plexipave is the original manufacturer of acrylic tennis surfacing systems and was first installed in Boston, USA in 1953.
Plexipave (UK) Ltd are the sole authorised distributors and installers in the UK & Ireland.
